Along the Rock: S3 Ep 110-Red, White & Blue Ball 2026 | Supporting Wounded Warriors & Celebrating America 250 in Dixon

Hosted by Emma Watts, Article by Sara Bellows
On this episode of Along the Rock, host Emma Watts welcomed Chris Bishop and Mary Oros to discuss the upcoming Red, White, and Blue Ball. This community event combines patriotism, entertainment, and charitable giving in support of the Wounded Warrior Project while celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.

Set for June 27 at the Loveland Community House in Dixon, the event aims to bring together residents from across the Sauk Valley and surrounding communities for an evening dedicated to honoring veterans and celebrating the nation’s history.

Organizers explained that donations made to attend the event go directly to the Wounded Warrior Project, ensuring contributions support veterans without passing through event organizers. Community sponsors have stepped up to cover event expenses, including entertainment, food, and venue costs.

Guests can expect an evening of live music beginning with the Yorkville Big Band, followed by a keynote presentation from Danielle Green, a former Notre Dame basketball player and Iraq War veteran who has become an advocate for resilience after sustaining life-changing injuries during her service.

The celebration will continue with a performance by local favorite The Time Bandits, creating an energetic atmosphere to close out the evening.

While the Red, White, and Blue Ball is a 21-and-over event, organizers emphasized that it is intended to serve as a regional celebration rather than solely a Dixon event. They hope to attract attendees from communities throughout the area as part of the broader America 250 initiative.

The historic Loveland Community House was selected as the venue because of its rich history and unique setting. In addition to dancing and entertainment, attendees will have opportunities to explore museum spaces within the building, enjoy appetizers, visit photo areas, and purchase beverages from a cash bar.

Planning the event has required extensive collaboration among volunteers, businesses, and community organizations. Sponsors and local partners have played a significant role in bringing the vision to life through decorations, catering, entertainment, and logistical support.

The evening begins with a cocktail hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by music, presentations, and dancing. Organizers expect attendance between 200 and 250 people, but emphasized that all are welcome, even if they decide to attend at the last minute.

Guests are encouraged to reserve their spots in advance through Discover Dixon’s America 250 event page (discoverdixon.com/event/red-white-and-blue-ball) to help organizers prepare for the event.

Additional attractions include a photographer to capture the evening and a dessert table featuring treats from local bakers.

As America 250 celebrations ramp up alongside the Dixon Petunia Festival, organizers hope the Red, White, and Blue Ball becomes a memorable opportunity to support veterans, celebrate community, and honor the nation’s milestone anniversary.
