Along the Rock: S3 Ep 30-Spring is Just Around the Corner in Rock Falls, Illinois! | Bingo, Garage Sales… and more!!

Hosted by Nathan Stahr, Article by Sara Bellows
On this episode of Along the Rock, host Nathan Stahr sits down with Sam Kersey of the Rock Falls Chamber to talk about what’s ahead for the community this spring and beyond. From popular bingo events to new business-focused competitions, the conversation highlights how the Chamber continues to grow, adapt, and bring people together.

Spring Bingo Returns Bigger Than Ever

Spring Bingo is officially underway, and ticket sales are already moving fast. The Chamber’s goal this year is to make events bigger and better, and this bingo is no exception. Attendees can expect more raffles, more giveaways, and brand-new surprises throughout the night. Prize highlights include Beats by Dre headphones, 360-degree video drones, Pioneer Woman cookware sets, Michael Kors purses, and a standout grand prize: a 50cc mini dirt bike that will be won on March 19, at 4:00 p.m. at the McCormick Event Center, Rock Falls.

With attendance outgrowing its former home, Spring Bingo now takes place at the McCormack Event Center in partnership with Candlelight. This larger venue allows the Chamber to continue expanding the event. Moving forward, bingo will be held twice a year at this location, every March and November.

Summer Tailgate Bingo at Rock Falls High School

In addition to the traditional bingo events, the Chamber is bringing back its summer bingo series with a tailgate-style event on June 12. Hosted in the back parking lot of Rock Falls High School, the evening will feature vendors, food trucks, and a relaxed outdoor atmosphere. Created during the COVID era as a drive-in bingo experience, the tailgate event attracted a whole new crowd and became a fan favorite. The Chamber is excited to revive that energy and welcome both longtime bingo players and first-timers.

Speed Networking Builds Business Connections

Speed networking remains a strong draw for local businesses. Held twice a year, these events provide participants with the opportunity to meet one-on-one with more than 20 business owners in a single evening. Each interaction is short but impactful, allowing attendees to exchange business cards, explain their mission, and build meaningful connections. The fast pace keeps the night engaging, and conversations often run so well that it’s hard to get people to switch tables. The next event will be on April 22 at 5:30 pm at the Rock Falls Community Building.

Spring Garage Sales Bring Visitors to Town

The Rock Falls spring garage sales are another highly anticipated tradition. This year’s dates are May 15 through May 17, and interest is already high, with callers reaching out from other states to plan their visits. For just $10, participants can register to be included on the official garage sale map, which is now fully interactive online. The updated maps make it easy for shoppers to navigate the community, support local businesses, and hunt for bargains while enjoying time with family.

A Shift in Focus and New Events Ahead

The Chamber also shared an important update: Summer Splash will not take place this year. While the event has been a longtime staple, its format and role in the community have evolved. Instead, the Chamber is redirecting its energy toward new events, expanded seminars, and fresh opportunities for engagement.

One of the most exciting additions is Battle of the Businesses, a new team-based competition designed to bring local businesses together through fun and friendly challenges. Events will be hosted at various local businesses and may include activities like darts, cornhole, and collaborative challenges with the high school. Teams will compete for bragging rights and a Battle of the Businesses trophy, reinforcing the idea that a strong community starts with strong connections.
