The outdoor event, scheduled for June 12, brings together bingo, tailgating, music, food, and community fun in a unique format that first gained popularity during the COVID era. Created as a safe alternative to indoor bingo events, Tailgate Bingo has since developed a loyal following, with many community members asking when it would return.
This year’s event will take place in the parking lot of Rock Falls High School, one of the few locations large enough to accommodate the expected crowd of vehicles and participants. Guests are encouraged to arrive with friends, family members, coworkers, or neighbors and create their own tailgate setup using the two parking spaces included with admission. Participants can stay inside their vehicles listening to the games on the radio or set up lawn chairs, tables, and decorations outside their vehicles.
A decorating contest will also add an extra layer of excitement, with creative tailgate setups earning additional bingo playing cards.
Beyond the bingo games themselves, the event will feature food vendors, music, trivia, raffles, and photo opportunities. Attendees can purchase refreshments from Main Squeeze Lemonade and Diosa Mexican Cuisine while enjoying the summer kickoff atmosphere.
The bingo prizes are expected to be some of the biggest yet, thanks to support from local sponsors. Winners will have opportunities to take home outdoor-themed prizes, including a stainless steel barbecue grill, a water slide with a climbing feature and pool, a fire pit, camping gear, golfing items, and other summer essentials.
Tailgate Bingo is open only to participants ages 18 and older. Alcohol will not be permitted at the event, though attendees are welcome to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages as part of the tailgating experience.
Gates open at 4 p.m., with bingo games beginning at 5:30 p.m. and continuing until approximately 8 p.m. Organizers are anticipating a large turnout and expect traffic to begin lining up early near the high school entrance.
Tickets are available online through the Rock Falls Chamber website: rockfallschamber.com, at the Chamber office, or at any Sauk Valley Bank location in Rock Falls or Sterling. Guests can choose between regular admission packages and bonus packages that include additional special games and jackpot opportunities.
Razo also noted that volunteers are still needed to help with traffic coordination, setup, and event operations throughout the evening.
The event is designed to bring the community together for a night of entertainment, friendly competition, and summer celebration while supporting the work of the Chamber.
