Grammy-winning bassist Christian Dillingham will return with his quartet to perform music from his acclaimed album “Cascades,” along with new original compositions. Dillingham, a longtime favorite of Rendezvous Arts audiences, will be joined by saxophonist Lenard Simpson, guitarist Dave Miller, and drummer Greg Artry. The group is known for blending traditional jazz elements with contemporary influences, creating a sound that emphasizes groove, lyricism, and exploration.
Complementing the musical performances, photographer Jason Patrick Miller will showcase his distinctive visual work. Using a pinhole camera, Miller captures images of Chicago that are printed on metal and altered through techniques such as scratching and rusting. His work highlights both the industrial strength and fleeting nature of urban environments, drawing parallels to the improvisational qualities of jazz.
Organizers say the pairing of live jazz and visual art is intended to create an immersive experience, with both artists reflecting themes of spontaneity, structure, and transformation.
Performances and exhibits are scheduled at multiple venues, including 7:30 p.m. April 16 at The Next Picture Show in Dixon, 7 p.m. April 17 at the Gorton Center in Lake Forest, and 2:30 p.m. April 19 at Artifact Events in Chicago.
