The Dixon Municipal Band invites the community to another evening of outstanding live music on Thursday, July 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the Page Park Band Shell as the Summer Sounds 2026 concert series continues under the direction of Jon James.

This week’s program offers a wide variety of music, including three classic concert marches: National Emblem March, March Creole, and Peace Jubilee March.

Concertgoers will also enjoy the rich sonorities of Overture for Winds, the spirited Kimberly Overture, and the playful Slippery Slides. The program also includes Astor Piazzolla’s passionate Libertango, Glenn Miller’s timeless swing classic In the Mood, and the entertaining trumpet feature Alley Cat on a Hot Trumpet.

As always, the concert is free and open to the public. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or use the bench seating and enjoy an evening of exceptional live music in one of Dixon’s favorite summer traditions.

Door prizes will be awarded courtesy of Dairy Queen, Arthur’s Garden Deli, McDonald’s, Fresh Finds, Salamandra’s, Huffman’s Car Wash, and Roiel Scoop Ice Cream. Roiel Scoop Ice Cream will also be on site with refreshments available for purchase.

The Dixon Municipal Band’s Summer Sounds concert series continues each Thursday evening throughout the summer, featuring a diverse selection of marches, overtures, popular favorites, and concert band classics for audiences of all ages.
