The Dixon Municipal Band invites the community to enjoy another evening of outstanding live concert band music on Thursday, July 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the Page Park Band Shell as the Summer Sounds concert series continues under the direction of Jon James.

This week’s program offers an exciting variety of musical styles, from traditional concert band classics to popular favorites. The evening features stirring marches including Noble Men and Mustang! March, along with Prelude, Sicilliano, and Rondo, a lyrical work that showcases the expressive side of the concert band.

The program includes the colorful Italian Festival, Leroy Anderson’s beloved trumpet feature Bugler’s Holiday, and American Folk Rhapsody No. 3, which celebrates familiar American folk melodies. Audiences will also enjoy Chicago (Pop & Rock Legends), a tribute to the legendary rock band, as well as the fast-paced and exhilarating Galop by Dmitri Shostakovich. The concert concludes with The Orange Bowl, a classic concert march.

As always, admission is free, making the concert an enjoyable and affordable evening for the entire family. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or use the bench seating. Door prizes will be awarded, courtesy of OSF, Dairy Queen, Ace Hardware, Dunkin Donuts, Grungy Roots, Pet Supplies Plus, Fresh Finds, Arthur’s Garden Deli, Huffman’s Car Wash, and Roiel Scoop Ice Cream. Roiel Scoop Ice Cream will also be on site with refreshments available for purchase.
