Submitted
The Dixon Municipal Band continues its Summer Sounds concert series on Thursday, July 16, with a performance beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Page Park Band Shell.

Under the direction of Jon James, the band will present an entertaining program of classic marches, popular favorites, and timeless concert band literature. The evening includes three spirited marches by legendary composers John Philip Sousa, Henry Fillmore, and Eric Osterling: The Thunderer, His Honor, and Sunburst.  The featured work of the evening is Poet and Peasant Overture, one of the cornerstones of the concert band repertoire. Audiences will also enjoy selections from the Broadway musical Annie, the energetic Choreography, the inspiring On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss, My Kind of Towns, and the lively Italian favorite Funiculi Funicula.

In addition to the music, audience members will have the opportunity to win a variety of door prizes generously provided by Roiel Scoop Ice Cream, Rustic Paw Studio, Ace Hardware, Arthur’s Garden Deli, Dairy Queen, Huffman’s Car Wash, and Discover Dixon. Concessions will also be available throughout the evening.
