CommUNITY VBS will take place July 12-16 at Bethel Reformed Church. The program is free to attend, and a complimentary dinner will be served each evening for participants.
The event is made possible through a partnership among eight local churches representing different backgrounds and denominations: Bethel Reformed Church, Immanuel Lutheran, St. John’s Lutheran, St. Paul Lutheran, First Presbyterian, Grace Episcopal, First Christian and Open Door. Organizers say the shared goal is to bring the community together while sharing the love of Christ with area children.
In a time when differences can often be divisive, organizers hope the partnership serves as an example of churches working together despite their different backgrounds and beliefs. They say the event reflects the belief that love is stronger than hate and demonstrates the importance of serving the community together.
The week of Vacation Bible School will conclude with a community worship service at Grandon on Sunday, July 19, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
