The event will take place Saturday, April 11, beginning at 10 a.m.
Local historian Tom Wadsworth will present an engaging, one-hour program exploring the surprising connections between Charles R. Walgreen and Dixon, including how a small-town start in 1891 helped spark a national retail empire.
The presentation will feature more than 100 rare photographs and examine little-known moments in Walgreens’ deep roots in the community. Organizers say the program offers an opportunity to learn why local history matters and how Dixon’s story reaches far beyond city limits.
The event is free and open to the public, with refreshments provided. Copies of “Distinctive Dixon” by Tom Wadsworth will be available for purchase for $35, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Chamber.
Residents are encouraged to attend and celebrate Founder’s Day while gaining a new perspective on Dixon’s rich history.
