Mangler, who brings more than 20 years of experience to the stage, will guide participants through the fundamentals of stand-up comedy, including finding their comedic style, conquering stage fright, and building the confidence to continue performing beyond the class. Past students have gone on to perform in Chicago, Rockford, the Quad Cities, and other regional venues.
Classes will be held every Wednesday from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. The 13-week course is $100. Participants must attend at least 10 classes to secure a guaranteed spot in the live stand-up show scheduled for May 22 at 7 p.m. at The Spark, located at 314 First Ave., Sterling.
Each participant will receive 10 tickets to the May 22 show, which they may give away or sell, providing an opportunity to recoup the cost of the class.
Organizers note that students will begin performing on stage from the first day of class. In addition to comedy skills, the course is designed to help individuals strengthen their public speaking abilities.
Those interested can RSVP through the event’s Facebook page.
