Celebration of Life service will be September 19 at 1:00 p.m., at Sauk Valley Community Church, 498 IL Rt. #2, Dixon, IL. Visitation will be 11:30 to 1:00, same address.
Alice was born July 4, 1928, in Morrison, the daughter of Samuel and Edith (Hensler) Witmer. She married Merle Elwood Ebersole on March 6, 1949, in Sterling. She was a member of Sauk Valley Community Church (formerly named Community Alliance Church). She taught children about her Savior, Jesus, for over 60 years. She took a lot of care and time in planning her children’s lessons. She wanted them to be interesting, fun for the children, and accurate to the truth of God’s Word. Alice also enjoyed gardening and planning themed parties for her family.
Survivors include her son, Samuel (Paula) Ebersole of Mt. Morris, IL; daughter Debra (Jeff) Hockensmith of Williams, AZ; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; two children in infancy; one daughter, Dora Quimby; one sister, Mary Emily, in infancy; 5 sisters, Ethel Ebersole, Mabel Hess, Gladys Hess, Flossie Horst, Lorna Witmer; three brothers, Harry Witmer, Clifford Witmer, and Henry Witmer; and 1 great-grandaughter in infancy.
Our precious mother and grandmother, Alice, is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, and enjoying the rewards of a life well lived.
