Catherine was born July 16, 1961, in Sterling, IL, the daughter of Lyle and Lois (Whitlock) Dexter. She married Valentine Silva on October 31, 2018, in Rock Falls. Her husband was her rock! Catherine was a kind and generous person who loved her animals, reading, cooking, and Halloween.
She is survived by her husband, Valentine Silva of Rock Falls; two step-children, Ryan Silva of Sterling and Katrina Silva of Morrison; four sisters, Cynthia Anderson of Dixon, Judith Shoemaker of Rogers, AR, Jerri (Kevin) Clark of Converse, TX, and Patricia (Tom Sanchez) Dexter of Phoenix, AZ; and five step grandchildren, Blaine Silva, Reid Silva, Nash Silva, Laynie Silva, and Oscar Silva-Sosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marjorie Handel; and two brothers, Bruce Dexter and Robert Dexter.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 5:00 – 6:00 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The memorial service will follow at 6:00 PM.
