Charlie was born on July 25, 1951, in Sterling, the son of Charles and Clara (Stern) Davis. Charlie spent his younger years as a machinist. In 1994, he made his side job a full-time business, creating Davis Construction. Running that business for 15 years, Charlie was privileged to work on many different projects all over Northern Illinois. In later years, he was a groundskeeper for a farm owned by John Smith southwest of Rock Falls. Charlie was entrusted to renovate several of the structures on the property as well as maintain the orchard and grounds. But his main passion in life was fishing. Charlie was well known locally for his vast knowledge of all things fishing. He loved a good fishing trip with local friends to many surrounding states. If he wasn’t home, you’d find him at the lower dam.
