Cody was born on October 22, 1987, in Sterling, the son of Kevin Walters and Frances (Udell) Smith. He graduated from Rock Falls High School. Cody enjoyed spending time with his family, RC Cars, dirt bikes, and anything his older brother liked.
Survivors include, his father, Kevin Walters of Rock Falls; his mother, Frances Smith (Roger Blatz) of Wisconsin; three daughters, McKenna Walters, Baylee Walters and Annalis Jones; one son, James Jones; two sisters, Tonya (Brick Boss) Smith and Tammy Smith both of Dixon; two brothers, Jeremy Udell and Cody Robnett both of Rock Falls; HIs Fiance’ Becca Payne and multiple pets. Aunts Debbie Austin, Billie (James) Kaprelian, Brenda Wyatt, Tammy (Tom) Hernandez, Debbie (Jim) Sheely, Marvin (Gayle) Smith, Jimmy (Candace) Near, and Art (Lori) Walters. He had 5 Nieces and 3 Nephews. Many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his Dad, Jeffrey “Oppie” Smith; one brother, Eric Smith; one sister, Jennifer Smith; maternal grandparents Jeanette Udell and Bessie Near; paternal grandparents, Jack and Marilyn Appenzeller; Aunt Susan Smith and Uncle Darwin Austin, Rick Smith, Kenneth Wyatt
Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:15 AM Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Funeral service will follow with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
