He worked 9 years for Dixon Correctional Center and had risen in rank to a Correctional Lieutenant 2 years prior to his passing.
David was born on August 11, 1991, in McPherson, KS, the son of John and Ann (Graham) Haag; he was the beloved baby of the family. He married Victoria Dunbar on December 18, 2010, at Faith Christian Church in Grand Detour, IL. She was the love of his life, and he the love of hers. They went on to have two beautiful children together; Genevieve and Gabriel.
David was the kind of man who made your life better just by being in it. He was strong in every sense of the word; a fixer you could always call on, a man who would – both figuratively and literally – run towards and into the fire. To know David was to be a little safer, a little happier, and a little better off; David took care of those around him. Above all else, David was a devoted, protective, and loving father and husband – his family was his entire world. It was an honor to be loved by him, and he was so very loved by all around him.
David is survived by his wife, Victoria Haag; two children, Genevieve and Gabriel; his parents, John and Ann Haag; his siblings, Megan Haag, Miranda Lee, and Adam Haag; and his parents-in-law, Robert and Glenda Dunbar.
David was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Peggy Graham, and his paternal grandparents, Donald and Roberta Haag.
