He was born on March 26, 1947, in Dixon, IL, the son of Sherwood and Helen (Cahill) Dixon.

David grew up in Dixon on Hennepin Ave across from John Dixon Park. He had a wonderful childhood with a big family and many friends. David loved to tell stories. If you were lucky enough to be present for one, it was going to be a while because he had every detail down pat. David was a salesman and had the gift of gab. His coworkers and his customers always knew there would be a good story.
David married Marge (Spotts) Dixon on December 31, 1985. Then the adventures began, skiing with friends and family, camping and riding horses, hiking in the mountains, boating on the river, and building two homes. He loved creating the second home into a ranch. No one could clean horse manure better than him. He loved woodworking and got good at it in his garagemahall . His workshop was his pride and joy. He loved conferring with his buddies over a woodworking project.
The best thing David was good at, was being a wonderful, loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family was his world.
David is preceded in death by his parents, brother Henry(Linda), sister Mary(Greg Langan), brother William(Barbara), sister Louise(Tom Corken), brother Patrick, and granddaughter Kira Lozano.
Those living to honor is memory are his wife Marge, children Brad(Gina), Cathy(Mike), Molly(Jay), Matt(Tracy) Mike(Jamie), grandchildren Jacob(Rebecca), Justin(Peyton), Skylar, Tyler, Ashley, Dominic, Patrick, Cael, Mikayla, Samantha, great grandson James, brother James(Judy) and many nieces and nephews plus an abundance of friends.
