Don A. Lindermyer, affectionately known as Heimer and Uncle Don Don, age 64, of Prophetstown, died Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Don was born October 20, 1961, in Chicago, IL, the son of Gerald A. and Patricia (Seipts) Lindermyer. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and best friend whose kind heart and adventurous spirit touched everyone who knew him. He found joy in timeless music. His favorite bands were Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Peter Gabriel, and Black Sabbath. Don found peace in the beauty of nature alongside his forever hiking partner, Lanie. He also found wonder in the stars and astrology. Don was a lover of history, flowers and gardening, bird watching, and cooking for the people he loved. He found happiness in sharing meals, stories, laughter, and creating memories with family and friends. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered every time music plays, the flowers bloom, the birds chirp, and the night sky shines bright.

He is survived by his father, Gerald A. Lindermyer of Prophetstown; his sister, Sandy (Gary) Surma-Linton of Sterling; one nephew, Michael (Megan) Surma of Rock Falls; one great-niece, Aubrey; one great-nephew, Jack; and his lifelong friend, Lanie Sners of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Lindermyer, and his brother-in-law, Jeff Surma.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
