Don was born on August 22, 1946, in Sterling, the son of Anthony and Dorthy (Trostle) Eakle. He married Debra Larkey on September 27, 1996.
Don was employed with Northwestern Steel & Wire for 35 years, retiring in 2013. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed bowling, and loved spending time with all of his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Debra, of Rock Falls; one daughter, Jaime (Brent) Thomas of Dixon; Jeremy Bass of St. Louis; Scott Eakle; five grandchildren, Autumn (Austin) Butterfield, Bradon (Bailey) Bass, Payton Bass (Dylan Ringwold), Jersey Thomas (Josh Dewaele) and Jack Thomas; and one great-grandchild, Cambree Bass.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Eads; son, Christian Eakle; and two great-grandsons, Noah and Henry Thomas.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls.
