He was born on April 9, 1948, in Amboy, IL, the son of Daniel and Eda (Blan) Newman. Donald worked as a postman for USPS in Amboy for 36 years and at Walmart in Dixon for 13 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon.
Donald married Donna Delhotal in Dixon, IL, on Jan. 30, 1968. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gene Newman; his twin brother, David Newman; his sisters, Mary Gould, Shirley Gould, Daphyne Full, and Helen Fredricks.
Donald is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Gerald “Jerry” (Angie) Newman of Oregon, Lee Anne Newman of Dixon, Daniel (Michelle) Newman of Dixon, Amy (Matt) Coffey of Dixon; 12 grandchildren, Tyler (Paige) Newman, Garrett Newman, Nathan Newman, Nick Newman, Allison (Dakota) Bloomfield, Matthew (Hailey) Coffey, Abigail Newman, Brady (Bri Hayes) Newman, Andrew Newman, Collin (Kaylin) Newman, Mallory Newman, and Kade Coffey; 9 great grandchildren, Rowan, Kastyn, Paisley, Crew, Taytum, Cooper, Treyce, Briar, and Asher; 5 bonus great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. Cremation rites to follow, with a celebration of life to be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Dixon Knights of Columbus Hall.
