He was born on Nov. 30, 1965, in Rochelle, IL, the son of John “Jack” Dempsey.
Donald was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver for Olson Farms and worked for Austin Powder in Amboy.
Donald is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Gloria Dempsey, and brother, Michael Zell.
He is survived by his children, Luke Dempsey of Amboy, Josh (Kourtney) Dempsey of Amboy, and Tyler (Taylor) Dempsey of Tiskilwa; eight grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Gianna, Leah, Kodie, Abel, Aurora, Shepherd and Vivienne; his father, John “Jack” Dempsey; half-brother, Brian Zell; and close friends, Bob Olson and Brian Quest.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Funeral services will be on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, at 3 p.m. at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at St. Patrick Cemetery in Maytown.
