Donna was born October 13, 1937, in Sterling, IL, the daughter of Charles and Bernice (Spencer) Sheen. She married Floyd Ackland on June 27, 1964, in Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1985. Donna was employed at National Manufacturing in Sterling for 35 years. Amongst many other things, she enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, and making Kringle deliveries at Christmas time.
She is survived by one sister, Cheryl Sheen (Olin) Snitchler; several nieces and nephews, Dana Brandt (Tom) Wronski, Kevin (Cindy) Brandt, Lorri Ackland, Vickie Hill, Rick (Theresa) Ackland, and Ronald (Angel) Ackland; 13 great nieces and nephews; 26 great great nieces and nephews; and 2 great great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one sister, Mary Lou Smeltzer.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 505 First Avenue, Sterling. The funeral will follow at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Rock River Hospice and Home.
