Doug was born on December 31, 1959, in Dixon, the son of Patrick and Marilyn (Quinn) Henry. He married the love of his life, Sherry Franks, on July 28, 1979, at the family farm in Harmon, where they lived for many years and raised their children.
A lifelong farmer, Doug found his greatest joy outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing, searching fields for arrowheads, watching the birds around his home, or tending to his garden, he appreciated the simple pleasures of nature. Blessed with a true green thumb, there seemed to be no plant Doug couldn’t grow. He was happiest working the land he loved and spending time with those closest to him. For many years, Doug was a proud member of the Who Else Club in Nelson, where he enjoyed the lifelong friendships he made.
Doug will be deeply missed by his loving wife of nearly 47 years, Sherry of Oglesby; his son, Josh (Melissa) Henry of Nolensville, Tennessee; his daughter, Andrea (Dan) Eichelkraut of Oglesby; his three sisters, Judi (Mark) Fenoglio of Chatham, Trisha (Brad) Scott of Redlands, California, and Kathleen (Dan) Quinn of Las Vegas, Nevada; his cherished grandchildren, Evelyn and Henry Eichelkraut; and his faithful four-legged companion, Ellie Mae.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Marilyn Henry, and his brother, Mike Henry.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m., with Deacon Dan Goetz officiating. Cremation rites will follow the service.
