Edie was born May 7, 1948, at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California, the daughter of Margaret (Dunlop) and Kenneth Rife, USN. She married James K. Lamb on October 12, 1968, in Norlina, North Carolina.
Edie worked various jobs during her life, including as an insurance agent, in manufacturing plants, and was a volunteer for the Navy Relief Society at various naval bases as she moved about the country while her husband served on active duty in the United States Navy.
Edie was a member of St. Mary Church in Sterling. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and had a lifetime love affair with all critters, big and small, including Angel and Buddy, her and Jim’s beloved horses, and numerous cats and dogs.
She is survived by her husband, Jim, and their daughter, Rachel Oldfield. The world is worse off without her big heart in it.

A graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Rock Island National Cemetery, 23 Prospect Drive, Rock Island, Illinois.
