He was born on Sept. 8, 1953, in Mendota, IL, the son of Orville and Irene (Salz) Bonnell. Jerry was a truck driver at Sublette Farmers Elevator for 46 and a half years prior to his retirement. He was also a member of the Sublette Fire Dept.
Jerry married Vicki J. Kelly on July 21, 1973, in Amboy. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2020. Jerry is also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Martin Bonnell, Steven Bonnell, John Bonnell, and Thomas Bonnell; and sisters, Linda Chavera and Peggy Johnson.
He is survived by his children, Marty Bonnell, Kevin Bonnell, Jennifer (Sean) Welker, and James Bonnell; grandchildren, Konnor, Taylor, Sophia, and Reagan Welker; siblings, Joel (Karen) Bonnell, Daniel “Peach” Bonnell, Janelle (Jim) Clark, Rosann (Bill) Good, Bonnie (John) Carson, Jill (Jim Espinoza) Streeter, and Lucy (Darin) Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 1:30 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Maytown. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy. A memorial has been established. Arrangements by the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy.
