JoAnn was born January 13, 1932, in Port Huron, MI, the daughter of William and Marie (Voll) Kinison. She married Wayne Bruns on March 9, 1952, in Augusta, GA. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2022. JoAnn was employed at Lawrence Brothers and Wahl Clipper for many years and was a member of New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Larry) Stern of Clinton, IA; four grandchildren, James (Elaine) Bruns, Scott (Martha) Stern, Sarah (Mike) Monier, and Marie (Robert) Loftus; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, William Bruns; four brothers, Charles, Robert, Melvin, and Merten; and one sister, Beverly Saunders.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM at the church with Reverend Drew Williams officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.
A memorial has been established to New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling.
