She was born on January 7, 1935, in Sterling, the daughter of Alfred and Florence (Conklen) Sandrock. She married DeWayne A. Hussong on January 11, 1953, in Rock Falls. He died on January 25, 2023. Joyce had worked earlier in her life at the former Frary Lumber & Grain in Tampico and also at the Dutch Diner. Joyce was an active member of New Life Lutheran Church and of the Sewing and Quilting Ministry.
Survivors include her daughters: Connie (Lynn) Von Holten of Sterling and Carol (Gene) Vandermoon of Rock Falls; five grandchildren: Ryan (Dee Anna) Von Holten, Jeff (Lori) Von Holten, Rachel (James) Wayne, Scott (Tanya) Vandermoon and Traci (Scott) Verdery; eleven great grandchildren: Alex, Sammy, Jacob, Eleanor, Lucy, Mackenzie, Grant, Maddie, Jackson, Ella and Emmerson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Lowell Sandrock.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 9 AM until 10:45 AM at New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling. The funeral will follow at 11 AM at the church. Burial will conclude at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory.
Memorials may be given in her memory to New Life Lutheran Church.
