Obituary-Joyce Mae Kreger

Joyce Mae Kreger, 87, of Dixon, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Dixon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, in Dixon.

She worked for both Franklin Grove & Dixon Libraries, for 10 years.

Joyce was born on September 26, 1936, in Sterling, the daughter of William and Sophia (Schultz) Hayen. She married LeRoy Kreger on June 19, 1954, in Rock Falls, IL. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2023. Joyce was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Franklin Grove, and then a member of the First Presbyterian Church, in Dixon. She was a KSB Pink Lady and a part of the Franklin Grove Women’s Club for 15 years. Joyce also owned the “Red Cab Company” with LeRoy for 19 years, retiring from that point.

Joyce is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Jacqueline) Kreger, and Sheri Hill, both of Dixon; five grandchildren, Alison (Jeff) Masters, Callie Reinhold, Beth (Cory) Kent, Chris Kreger, Brian (Katie) Hill; and seven great-grandchildren, Avery, Laney, Camille, Landon, Nolan, Kyler, Chris.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one infant daughter, Lori Kreger; and one son-in-law, Donald Hill.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date with the Rev. Cheyenna Losey, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Dixon, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Entombment of cremains of both LeRoy and Joyce will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon, at a later date.

A memorial has been established to Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon, IL.

Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
