She celebrated 47 years of marriage with Kerry Buckingham earlier this year. She was deeply proud of her children and took great joy in her grandchildren. Kathy loved great food and loved it even more when it was made by someone else. She loved to travel, but not for too long, as she loved to come home. Kathy loved music and especially loved a talented vocalist. Kathy loved time with her family and friends and would never turn down the chance to connect over drinks or a meal. She loved the sun but hated sunscreen, loved dogs but not the small yippy ones, and loved wine but only if it was sweet enough. Most of all, Kathy loved people, and she is survived by the people who loved her, including her husband, Kerry; mother, Virginia; children, Jill, Brad, Traci, and Jamie; siblings Carol, Mark, and Julie; grandchildren Wiley, Dash, Penny, and Joey; and many friends and loved ones.
Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 10 AM in St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. Burial will conclude at Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the St. Mary Parish Center. Arrangements entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation to your favorite charity be made as a memorial to Kathy.
