Kay was born on February 2, 1955, in Sterling, the daughter of Clarence Edward and Catherine Viola (LaFleur) Renner Sr., and was a graduate of Rock Falls High School. She married Steven E. McGrath on October 11, 1974. Kay began her working career at the CGH Medical Cardio Lab and later worked as a receptionist at CGH Medical Center Clinics before retiring after over 30 years of service. Kay enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events and babysitting the “grand dogs”. She liked to go garage saleing with her sisters, going to the casinos, and was a Packers fan and White Sox fan.
Survivors include her husband, Steve; daughter, Shelly (Aaron) Buser; son, Shaun (Lisa) McGrath; grandchildren: Trevor and Hunter Buser; Ashli and Abbi McGrath; sisters: Cheryl McCleary, Fonda Zinke, Rae Walls, Nona (Paul) Adams and Debbie Cushing; brother, Clarence “Ed” (Chris) Renner Jr; and numerous nieces and nephews; six sister in laws: Judy Borelli, Jane McGrath, Mary Tucker, Liz (Carl) Foster, Meg (Michael) Parsons and Paula (Rudy) Celestino.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters: Nyla Cochran, Nelta Hampton and Bonnie Hamby; infant brother Kenneth; and stillborn siblings: Vickie, Edward and Ronald.
At her request, cremation will take place and a private family gathering will take place in the future. Arrangements entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory.
