He was born on March 19, 1967, in Dixon, the son of Raymond E. and Doris (Stern) Portner. Most recently, he had worked at Mallard Manufacturing in Sterling.
Survivors include his son, Kent R. Portner II; his girlfriend, Dolly Schultz; brother, Eric (Trina) Portner; and sisters: Wendy Armstrong and Deb Moore.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rex Portner.
Cremation has taken place. A gathering of friends and family will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 1-4 PM at Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. Arrangements entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory.
