Larry was born on May 26, 1959, in Dayton, OH, the son of Richard and Beverly (Roberts) Thompson. He worked as an automotive mechanic for 35 years. Larry enjoyed bowling, fishing, golf, and gaming on his computer in his spare time.
Survivors include, 2 daughters, Autum (Josh) Morden of Davenport, IA and Candice Johnson of Sterling; 1 son, Brett (Heather) Thompson of Clinton, IA; 1 sister, Dr Rhonda Thompson of St. Simons Island, GA; 14 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters; several nieces and nephews; his longtime best friend, David Brockman; his longtime fishing partner and brother-in-law, Wayne Timbs; and other long time friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Andrew Davenport; 1 sister, Dianne Pineda; and granddaughter, Breanna Goff.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Cremation rites will be accorded. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for his children.
