Mary was born on June 10, 1934, in Freeport, the daughter of Harold and Luella (Kloepping) Schleuning. She married John Duffy on May 28, 1971, at Rock Falls United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on November 7, 2010. Mary lived an independent life, known for her quick wit, dry sense of humor, and mad Scrabble skills. She was an avid reader. Enjoyed working in her yard and chatting with neighbors.
Survivors include one daughter, Abbie (Jack) Clemens; six sons, Dale Moothart, Mathew Duffy, Shaun (Cis) Duffy, Brian (Jane) Duffy, Kris (Jan) Duffy, and Tim (Amy) Duffy; many grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Richard Schleuning,
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10:00 AM– 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating. Inurnment will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
In lieu of flowers memorial has been established to Rock River Hospice & Home.
