Ramona K. Coffin, age 81, of Allure of Prophetstown, IL, formerly of Washington, IA, died Friday, May 8, 2026, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Ramona was born April 6, 1945, in Fairfield, IA, the daughter of Raymond and Clara (Eatinger) Coffin. She attended Glenwood School as a child and later moved back to the family farm to help raise sheep, chickens, and other livestock. She also helped raise her nieces and nephews, as they stayed there as their parents worked.

She later moved to Illinois to be closer to her brother and lived at a couple of group homes in Sterling, IL. She attended Self Help Enterprises and made so many friends and memories. She loved her puzzles, coloring, and playing the card game of Old Maid! Most of all, she loved her music. The staff at Allure will miss her playing her CD’s every day.

She is survived by two nieces, Shelly (Marty) Moore of Lyndon, IL, and Wendy Miller of Lytton, IA, and one nephew, Lance Coffin of Prophetstown.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Eugene Coffin in infancy and Jerry Coffin.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Private burial will take place at a later date in Pleasant Plain, IA.

A memorial has been established for Self Help Enterprises.
