Richard L. Percycoe, 80, of Rock Falls, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at CGH Hospital.

He was born on December 25, 1945, to Genevieve Mae (Lynch) Percycoe and Alexander Percycoe. He served in the U.S Navy from 1963-1967, and was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska, on March 27, 1964, when the most powerful earthquake ever recorded in North America hit, with a Magnitude of 9.2. His children, Rick and Lisa, always loved hearing his stories from when he was overseas. He worked as a pipefitter for Northwestern Steel & Wire Company for 33 years and served as the past President of Steelworkers Local 63. During his retirement, Richard enjoyed traveling, going out to breakfast with his partner, Vickey Hackbarth, and spending time with family. He especially enjoyed relaxing outside on Lisa and Diana’s deck, talking and watching the hummingbirds. He was a plumber, electrician, carpenter, draftsman, and accountant; he could do it all. He loved his home, where he lived for 54 years. He was a lover of animals and is now reunited with Trinket, his Miniature Schnauzer, whom he loved dearly. Richard was fiercely loyal and would do anything to help his family and friends. If Lisa ever needed advice, she knew she could always go to her dad, and he would have the answer.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Lisa Percycoe; his partner, Vickey Hackbarth; and his former wife, Diana Percycoe; Richard’s five sisters and brothers: Judy (Percycoe) Bodmer; James Persico; Robert Percycoe, his Best Friend and Big Brother; Julie (Percycoe) Wigginton; and Loretta (Percycoe) Parent. Vickey’s daughters, Stacy Everly and Beth Ackert; Vickey’s grandchildren, Nathan Ackert, and Chloe Everly; and her great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Liam Ackert.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Richard R. Percycoe; brother, David R. Percycoe; and half-brother, Louis Wolber.

There will be no services per his request. Cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory.
