Sharon was born on December 31, 1946, in South Gate, California, to Eugene and Darlene (Giboo) Anderson. She married Alvin Slayton on December 22, 1984, in Rock Falls, Illinois; he preceded her in death on August 17, 2015. Sharon was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning, and crocheting. She was an avid Bible reader, loved music, and had a vibrant social life. For 41 years, she was a faithful friend of Bill W.
Survivors include four daughters: Angela (Paul) Peterson and Andrea (Tim) Armstrong of Lyndon; Dawn Sanders of Ava, Missouri; Sheila (Romeo) Villeda of Cut and Shoot, Texas; one sister, Linda (Frank) Spooner of East Moline; one brother, Alan (Dianna) Anderson of Cambridge; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 12–1 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The memorial service begins at 1 PM with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating. Inurnment follows at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling.
