Walter was born on November 3, 1937, in Rock Falls, the son of Bertrum and Margaret (Mulnix) Lindsley. He married Lillian Pierson on June 29, 1996. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2002. He later married Janet Stevens on April 17, 2004, in Rock Falls. He served his country in the United States Army prior to his employment as a Crane Operator with Northwestern Steel & Wire for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, electronics, playing guitar, dining out, and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife Janet Lindsley of Rock Falls; four daughters, Janet (Steve) Cagle of Ocala, FL, Barbara (Tonye) Means of Indianapolis, IN, Cynthia (Dennis) Reynolds of Rockford and Amanda (Tom) Brosz of Bandera, TX; one son, Walter (Diane) Lindsley of Evansville, IN; one sister, Maxine (Bob) Knapp of Rock Falls; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM. Cremation rites will be accorded. Private inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
