He was born on Feb. 27, 1950, in Dixon, the son of Walter and Betty (Eller) Wickens. He worked for the Dixon Cement Plant for many years and most recently at E.D. Etnyre in Oregon. Walter was an avid fisherman, loved to target shoot, and spent time with his grandsons.
He married Kathy Wakeley on Aug. 8, 1975, in Dixon. Walter is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill Wickens. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Wendy Wickens and Jeffrey (Kayla) Wickens; two grandsons, Blake and Tanner Wickens; siblings, Marian Hill, James Wickens, Joseph Wickens, and Delores (Mark) Hess; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. Cremation rites to follow, with burial of cremated remains to take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon at a later date. Arrangements by the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon.
