Warren L. Heuck, a dedicated family man, veteran, and IT pioneer, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, curiosity, and steadfast faith.

Born on February 12, 1940, to the late John and Esther Heuck, Warren grew up in Beecher, Illinois, where he developed the work ethic and integrity that defined his 86 years.

After graduating from Beecher High School and attending Purdue University Calumet Campus, Warren answered the call to serve his country. From 1963 to 1965, he served in the U.S. Army as part of the 7th Data Processing Unit, stationed in the Pentagon. This early exposure to technology paved the way for a distinguished career at American Maize Products Company. Warren was a true pioneer in the digital age, helping to initiate the company’s first IT department. He began his journey as a computer operator and, through talent and perseverance, rose to become the leader of the functional unit.

Warren was a man of deep conviction and community spirit. He resided in Lansing, Illinois, for 35 years before relocating to Sterling, Illinois. In both cities, his faith was his North Star. He was a member of Lansing United Methodist Church, where he served multiple terms on the Board of Trustees, and later at Wesley Methodist Church in Sterling, where he continued his dedicated service on the Board of Trustees. His leadership ensured that his church homes remained vibrant places of worship for generations to come. Warren believed in staying active, both mentally and physically. An avid traveler, he achieved the rare feat of visiting every state in the United States, in addition to many international destinations. He especially enjoyed fishing in northern Wisconsin. When he was not exploring the world, he could be found enjoying a round of golf, mastering complex puzzles, or working on his computer.

Warren’s greatest pride was his family.

Warren is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn; his two daughters and their husbands; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was the anchor of his family, providing a steady hand and a brilliant mind that they will miss dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Esther Heuck; his brother, Dale Heuck.

A gathering of friends and family will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 10 AM until 11 AM at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sterling, with the memorial service to follow at 11 AM. In honor of his military service, honors will take place after the church ceremony. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.

In honor of Warren’s life, consider spending a quiet moment by the water or solving a challenging puzzle—two things that always brought him peace.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to: Wesley United Methodist Church or Fish Food Pantry.
