On this episode of Along the Rock – Pet of the Week, sponsored by the Radar Free Press, host Nicole Bollman and guest Brian Dixon from Granny Rose Animal Shelter. This week’s spotlight was on Delmar, a lovable mixed-breed dog who is ready to find a forever family.

Delmar is approximately 4½ years old and is a large mixed-breed dog with a gentle personality and plenty of energy. He arrived at Granny Rose Animal Shelter a few months ago as part of a transfer alongside his brother, Pete. While little is known about their history, the two share similar markings and personalities.

After arriving at the shelter, Delmar spent time in a foster home while undergoing treatment for heartworms. Now heartworm negative, he has benefited from the experience by learning to tolerate cats. While he can live with many feline companions, he is dog selective, making a meet-and-greet with any resident dogs an important part of the adoption process.

Delmar is an affectionate dog who enjoys giving kisses, cuddling, and spending time with people. Curious by nature, he likes to keep an eye on everything happening around him. His unique coat features large white and brown patches accented with smaller spots that resemble Dalmatian markings, giving him a distinctive appearance.

Despite being an adult dog, Delmar still has plenty of energy and would enjoy walks, runs around the neighborhood, and adventures with his new family. He also rides well in the car, making him a great companion for road trips or everyday errands. He already knows how to sit and is eager to continue learning with positive reinforcement.

Brian described Delmar as the type of dog who would happily curl up on the couch after a day of activity, making him an ideal companion for someone looking for both an active partner and a loving lap dog.

Those interested in adopting Delmar should submit an application through the Granny Rose Animal Shelter website. Once approved, shelter staff will schedule a meet-and-greet to ensure he is the right fit for the family and any existing pets. Delmar’s adoption fee is $350, and he is ready to head home with the right family.

The episode also highlighted an upcoming crushed glass art class hosted through Granny Rose Animal Shelter. Participants can select a template featuring their favorite animal or breed, fill it with colorful crushed glass, and have it finished with resin to create a decorative window hanging. Information and registration are available on the shelter’s website, with additional updates also shared regularly on the shelter’s Facebook page.
