Estimated to be between 2 and 3 years old, Royce has quickly become a staff favorite thanks to his calm demeanor, intelligence and easygoing personality. Longtin says Royce gets along well with other dogs, cats and children, making him an excellent fit for a wide variety of households.
Royce has a medium activity level, enjoys walks and can even make a great jogging partner. He also rides well in the car and has represented Happy Tails at community fundraisers, proving he’s comfortable in new environments and around people. Despite his handsome looks and well-rounded personality, Longtin says she’s surprised he hasn’t already been adopted.
As a Border Collie-Lab mix, Royce is eager to learn and responds well to training. His gentle temperament and excellent leash manners make him an ideal companion for first-time and experienced dog owners alike.
Families interested in adopting Royce can complete an adoption application through Happy Tails Humane Society’s website or stop by the shelter at 1408 McNeil Road in Rock Falls. After the application is reviewed, the shelter schedules a meet-and-greet with the entire family, including any current dogs living in the home, to help ensure a successful match.
The episode also highlights an exciting fundraiser coming to Happy Tails. Jordan’s Way, a nationwide fundraising tour inspired by founder Kris Rotonda’s rescue dog Jordan, will visit the shelter from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. The event features live-streamed fundraising challenges, including pies in the face, slime, tortilla challenges and other activities designed to raise money for the animals in Happy Tails’ care.
Community members can participate in the event, volunteer for the fundraising activities or donate through the shelter’s Facebook page while watching the live stream. Donations also help provide treats and special activities for the shelter animals during the event.
