4-H members from Carroll, Lee, and Whiteside counties will compete in a public speaking contest on Monday, February 16, at the Whiteside County Extension Office.

The public is invited to join us to see what the talented 4-H’ers have prepared for presentation. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. with speeches to follow beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Whiteside County Extension Office is located at 12923 Lawrence Rd, in Sterling, Ill.

4-H’ers wishing to compete should pre-register before February 11 by visiting go.illinois.edu/PublicSpeakingCLW or contacting their county 4-H program coordinator. Speech categories include Formal Speech, Illustrated Speech, Original Works, and Oral Interpretation. Speeches may be presented individually or as a 2-person team. This competition is required for the chance to advance to the state competition in April.

If you will need an accommodation in order to participate, please contact the Whiteside County Extension office at 815-632-3611. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your access needs.
