The performance is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at First Congregational Church, also known as “The Big Red Church,” located at 311 Second Ave. in Sterling. Collins will be joined by Dominic Fiacco, a classical organist. Both performers are currently students at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.
The recital will feature a selection of operatic and classical vocal works accompanied by organ.
Collins, who is pursuing studies in opera, aims to bring greater exposure to classical music to the Sterling and Rock Falls communities. Having grown up in the Sauk Valley, Collins noted limited access to classical music locally and hopes this performance will provide an opportunity for residents to experience the genre close to home.
The event is intended to make classical music more accessible to area audiences while showcasing talent with local ties.
Additional details about the recital may be released as the event approaches.
