Submitted
The Regional Office of Education #47 will host a Student Empowerment Conference on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sauk Valley Community College.

The conference builds upon the success of previous Student Leadership Summits and is designed to amplify student voice while addressing the real challenges and aspirations of today’s learners. Schools throughout the region have been invited to bring students and accompanying staff members to participate in interactive, solution-focused sessions facilitated by local community leaders. The day will also feature opening and closing keynote addresses from area leaders.

Students will explore several key topics, including attendance and engagement; mental health and student well-being; school climate and belonging; student leadership and advocacy; and college, career, and community readiness.

Organizers say the event is intended to empower students to share their perspectives, collaborate with peers, and contribute ideas that strengthen school communities across the region.
