Submitted
The Sterling Police Department and Sterling City Administration are aware of the internal investigation of a Whiteside County Sheriff's Department deputy for possible misuse of the Flock ALPR System.

Sterling Police Administration conducted an audit of its Flock data and access information upon receiving notification of the investigation from the Whiteside County Sheriff. The deputy under investigation has never been a part of Sterling Police Department’s Flock portal nor had access to Sterling’s Flock data. The audit confirmed the deputy under investigation never accessed the Sterling Police Department portal.

Sterling Police Department has followed all constitutional, federal, and state laws regarding the use of ALPRs and the information those provide. The most stringent rules were implemented for sharing of data and use of the Flock system. Regular internal audits of its use were conducted by the department’s administration.

Sterling Police Department previously announced its discontinued use of Flock ALPR cameras and the Flock system.
